Stud Farm

For the design of this entrance precinct and approach road to a stud farm in the Cape Winelands, we drew reference from traditional agricultural patterns and local plant species. The concept distils and highlights elements such as orchards, avenues, water reservoirs, causeways and farm walls to evoke a contemporary intervention which is contextually appropriate. Through the reduction of conventional engineering infrastructure, swales were integrated into the design to carry storm water. These were planted with a broad range of Fynbos species to ensure year-round interest along the entrance roadway.
